Wedding Cake is a Oolong tea flavored with almond. These are the only ingredients and that is exactly how simple and delicious this tea smells, steeps and sips.
I tried one steeping as recommended with one teaspoon and 8 oz of boiling water (yes, boiling water on Oolong – I was surprised also) It was very delicious and gentle. My 2nd cup I actually added 2 heaping teaspoons and filled my mug to the top.
A great tea for a cold, snowy Michigan morning.

    Happy Sipping!

This fun and festive Wedding Cake tea from Tara’s teas has a mouth watering aroma and tase to match of sweet almonds. This medium bodied tea warranted me getting into my stash of marzipan, to have a sweet treat to go with it. It is the perfect marriage of almond and oolong with a lingering delicate finish.

Wedding Cake Tea offers a thoughtful interpretation of a classic dessert inspiration, favoring warmth and memory over overt sweetness. Rather than attempting to replicate frosting or sugary confections, the blend leans into almond and toasted oolong in a way that feels composed and intentional. Upon opening the package, the aroma is immediate, led by almond extract and supported by the gentle sweetness of the oolong leaf and its characteristic roasted undertones. The fragrance feels inviting and familiar without becoming artificial or overly perfumed.

During steeping, the roasted character of the oolong came forward, gradually overtaking the almond forward aroma and grounding the blend in something more structured and robust. This preparation allowed the base tea to express itself fully while still supporting the flavoring.

In the cup, almond settles softly on the tongue, carried by the toasted qualities of the oolong. The flavor is smooth, warm, and restrained, offering a quiet sense of comfort rather than a dessert-like sweetness. While the preparation guide suggests adding sweetener to achieve a “full bite of cake,” the tea stands well on its own. When a small amount of honey was added, the almond notes were strengthened and the blend leaned slightly closer to its namesake, though it remained balanced and never cloying. Overall, Wedding Cake Tea is best suited for those who appreciate nuance, subtle sweetness, and a refined dessert-inspired cup.

My first impression of this tea is it is very almond forward, especially with the scent of the unbrewed tea leaves. It is very light, smooth, and has a lingering sweetness to it. It has an almost buttery mouth feel. In fact, I drank my first cup with a pice of chocolate cake with whipped cream frosting(a fitting combination). I’m undecided on how I feel about this tea. I don’t think it’s quite for me but is could see why someone else you’ll like it. If you like light tea with and almond aroma that is very mellow and sweet all on its own with a hint of nuttiness, this is the tea for you.

This tea was really good! I really liked the nutty flavor in this tea, it was rich and slighly roasty. The almond notes gently lingered after each sip. It was so smooth and well-balanced. A simple yet incredibly flavorful cup of tea. I enjoyed trying this tea plain, it was delicious on its own. I think this would pair so well with a sweet dessert.

I used 2 tsp of tea and steeped at 212° for 3 minutes

This tea was gifted to me by purveyor, but all opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Wedding Cake Tea! This tea is a smooth Taiwanese oolong with light almond notes. Despite the name, it drinks more like a gently flavored almond oolong than a true dessert tea. The aroma is softly nutty with subtle floral notes, and the cup is clean, balanced, and easy to drink. The almond flavor is present but mild, offering a hint of bakery warmth rather than a sweet cake flavor. I brewed it using 1 teaspoon in 8 oz of water at 195°F (slightly adjusted from the package directions), and it came out smooth with no bitterness. A great choice for oolong lovers who enjoy lightly flavored, more natural-tasting teas.

I suggest using a brewing temperature of 195⁰ and steeping for 4 to 5 minutes.
Right away, the aroma was inviting and unmistakably nutty—warm almond with a buttery, pastry-like scent that immediately brought baked goods to mind. In the cup, this didn’t read as “Wedding Cake” to me at all, but rather like an almond croissant. The natural almond flavoring was rich and cozy, while the oolong base added soft floral notes and a gentle creaminess that kept everything smooth and balanced.
There was no bitterness at my chosen temperature, just a comforting, bakery-inspired cup that felt indulgent without being overly sweet.
I was provided with this tea by Tara’s Teas in return for an honest and impartial review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
