Black tea from Assam region of India

One would need to travel to either side of the Brahmaputra Valley in India to the estates which grow this powerful tea. Assam tea makes a perfect breakfast tea that is also typically known to have a higher caffeine content. This malty tea with notes of raisin, also has a sweet starchy flavor reminding one of roasted plantains. The astringency of Assam tea makes it ideal to pair with milk and sugar.

Ingredients: black tea

This is a wonderful tea, not too strong. I enjoy it slowly on the weekends as a way to treat myself. It’s really good.

  2. Amelia Walsh

This malty, earthy, robust Assam tea from Tara’s teas is perfect first thing in the morning with its higher caffeine levels. This tea (when brewed properly) is pleasantly astringent without being overly bitter.

I really enjoyed this Assam from Tara’s Teas. It’s smooth but bold, with classic malty flavor, a hint of raisin, and gentle sweetness. It brews up rich and comforting without being harsh. I brewed 2 tsp in a 16 oz mug at 212° and it came out great. Delicious on its own and holds up well with milk and sugar. A dependable black tea for everyday brews.

This Assam tea is bold, smooth and delicious
This is clearly a high quality Assam black tea. It’s full-bodied and robust. It’s exactly what I want in an every day tea. A nice tea to start the day.

I sipped it while I snacked on almonds and dark chocolate if you are looking for a good pairing. It’s delightful with or without cream. I prepared it both ways.

This was really good! This was a bold black tea with a deep flavor that was perfect to start my day! It also had a rich, almost fruity note. I loved the flavor of this tea. It was so delicious on its own but I also wanted to try it with milk. It held up well to milk, but I enjoyed the Assam’s robust flavor best without additions. Highly recommend this one!

I used 2 tsp of tea, steeped at 212° for 3 minutes

This tea was gifted to me by purveyor, but all opinions are my own.

  6. Julie Desrosiers

This tea has a real good flavor, very smooth. I am learning a lot about Assam tea and this is a good example of quality tea. The leaves are dark and the tea is a nice golden color. You can almost see the flavor. It is a simple yet wonderful tea.

I would recommend this as a great tea for any Assam lover or someone who wants to get to know Assam tea better.
